Coventry is a city in the West Midlands, formerly in Warwickshire. It has been an important centre of car manufacturing. During World War II, there was extensive bomb damage to the city, including the cathedral: a new cathedral was opened in 1962 alongside the ruins of the old one. In the 11th century Lady Godiva is supposed to have ridden naked through the streets a a protest against her husband's excessive tax demands.
