South Wales Police (Welsh: Heddlu De Cymru) is a police force covering most of the historic county of Glamorgan. It was formed in 1969, and its boundaries were re-drawn in 1974 to cover the new counties of Mid Glamorgan, South Glamorgan and West Glamorgan. Following a further local government reorganiaiton it now covers the districts of Bridgend, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Neath Port Talbot, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Swansea, and the Vale of Glamorgan.
