Rochdale is a town and metropolitan borough in Greater Manchester. It was an important textile manufacturing centre in the early industrial revolution, and the birthplace of the co-operative movement. As well as Rochdale itself, the Metropolitan Borough includes the towns of Middleton, Heywood, Littleborough and Milnrow, and the village of Wardle.
