Perth and Kinross is a council area in Scotland. The two counties of Perthshire and Kinrossshire had a joint county council until 1975, when Perth and Kinross was created as a district in the Tayside region, but with a smaller area. It became a unitary authority when Tayside was abolished in 1996. The main town is Perth.
