Flintshire is a county in north Wales. The original county consisted of two parts, separated by Denbighshire. It was abolished in 1974 when it was absorbed into Clwyd. In 1996 Clwyd was abolished and a new Flintshire was created by merging the districts of Alyn and Deeside and Delyn.
