Alkarim Jivani is TV editor for Time Out and is regularly featured on BBC's Newsnight Review.

He was born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and educated in Tanzania, Kenya, and the University of Sussex, where he studied philosophy and literature.

Jivani is an out gay man[1] He is the author of It's not unusual: A History of Lesbian and Gay Britain in the Twentieth Century.
