The Sexual Offences (Jersey) Law 1990 decriminalised sodomy (anal intercourse, referred to as "the crime of sodomie") between men. The age of consent was set at 21. However sodomy remained illegal for members of the crew of Jersey ships. Heterosexual anal intercourse also remained illegal. There was no equivalent to the UK offence of gross indecency.
