Angus is a council area in Scotland. It was a county (known for a time as Forfarshire) until it became a district within the Tayside region. It became a single-tier authority when Tayside was abolished in 1996. The county originally included the City of Dundee. The largest town in the current council area is Arbroath. Brechin is a former cathedral city.
