Coventry Cathedral ruins

Coventry is a city in the West Midlands, formerly in Warwickshire. It has been an important centre of car manufacturing. During World War II, there was extensive bomb damage to the city, including the cathedral: a new cathedral was opened in 1962 alongside the ruins of the old one. In the 11th century Lady Godiva is supposed to have ridden naked through the streets a a protest against her husband's excessive tax demands.

LGBT history

There was a Coventry CHE Group.

In 1978 gay venues in the city included the Rose and Crown Pub in the High Street, and Dominos Club on a Tuesday evening at 72 Lower Precinct [1].

In 1978 the CHE Conference was held in Coventry.

The Queering Coventry project seeks to record the memories of local lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people and to produce a film based on their experiences.[2]
