Sarah Outen (born 1985) is an athlete, adventurer, and motivational speaker. She was the youngest person to row solo across the Indian Ocean and also the Pacific.
She went to school at Stamford and studied biology at St Hugh's College, Oxford.
In 2009 she was the first woman, and the youngest person, to sail across the Indian Ocean (from Australia to Mauritius).
In 2011 she set off to row, cycle and kayak around the world.
She was ranked number 12 in the Pink List 2013. The citation said:
- "This year, the 28-year-old became the first person to sail solo from Japan to Alaska. She rowed 3,750 nautical miles over 150 days in her seven metre boat Happy Socks to complete the challenge. She even managed to propose to her girlfriend, Lucy, while at sea. Lucy said yes."[1]
