Church of the Immaculate Conception, Farm Street

Mayfair is a very affluent area of the West End of London, within the City of Westminster. It contains fashionable shopping areas, and many hotels and other businesses.

LGBT history

The powerboat racer Betty Carstairs was born in Mayfair in 1900.

The Roman Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception in Farm Street, "notoriously refused entry to Oscar Wilde 116 years ago, following his release from jail." However in 2013 it became a place for gay Catholics to worship, following the end of the Soho Masses.[1]
