York St John University is a university based in the city of York. It originated as an Anglican training college form men, founded in 1841, and a similar college for women, founded in 1846 and located for a time at Ripon. The two colleges merged in 1974 and became part of the University of Leeds in 1990. The institution became an independent university in 2006.

LGBT Society

The York St John University LGBT Staff Network is a member of the LGBT Consortium and the York St John Students' Union is a former member.[1]
