Telford is a town in Shropshire. It was created as a new town in 1963. It includes the historic area of Ironbridge Gorge, an important site in the early industrial revolution. In 1998 the district became a unitary authority called Telford and Wrekin.

The poet Richard Barnfield was brought up in Newport.
There was a Telford CHE Group in the 1970s.
