The University of Surrey
was founded in 1891 as the Battersea Polytechnic Institute
. In 1956 it became Battersea College of Advanced Technology
. it became the University of Surrey in 1966, and by 1970 had completed its move from Battersea
in the London Borough of Wandsworth
to its new campus on Stag Hill, Guildford
, near Guildford Cathedral.
LGBT Society Surrey University was a member of the LGBT Consortium in 2011.
